The Advanced Acoustics Wedge PRO is a 75mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam tile in a precision-cut wedge profile, measuring 305 × 305mm. The tile achieves NRC 0.95 (Sound Absorption Class B), providing high-performance broadband absorption across the mid and high frequency range with notably stronger low-frequency performance than thinner foam profiles — 0.57 at 250Hz, rising to 0.91 at 500Hz, 1.08 at 1kHz, 1.15 at 2kHz, and 1.14 at 4kHz. Each pack contains 24 tiles, covering 2.23m² (24ft²) of wall or ceiling surface — the largest coverage per pack in the 12" tile range.

Applications

Recording studios and control rooms — broadband absorption including low-mid frequencies. The 75mm Wedge PRO at NRC 0.95 (Class B) provides effective absorption across a broader frequency range than thinner tiles, with 0.57 at 250Hz providing meaningful low-mid frequency control in addition to the strong mid and high frequency absorption. Install on the primary reflection points — side walls, rear wall, and ceiling — to achieve even absorption coverage throughout the room. The Wedge PRO is the recommended tile specification for control rooms where low-mid frequency reverberation is a problem alongside higher frequency echo. Drum rooms and rehearsal spaces. Drum rooms present a particularly demanding acoustic environment — high sound pressure levels across a wide frequency range, with significant low-mid frequency energy from kick drum and toms. The 75mm Wedge PRO provides greater low-mid frequency absorption than thinner tiles, reducing the build-up of low-mid frequency energy that makes drum rooms difficult to record in and uncomfortable to play in. The large 305 × 305mm tile format and 2.23m² coverage per pack makes it efficient to treat the large wall areas typical of drum rooms and rehearsal spaces.

Live rooms and production studios. Live rooms used for recording full bands or amplified instruments require effective broadband absorption to control reverberation across the full frequency range of the instruments being recorded. The 75mm Wedge PRO provides Class B absorption from 250Hz upward, making it appropriate for live rooms where a range of instruments — including bass guitar, electric guitar, and drums — are recorded simultaneously. The large coverage per pack reduces the number of packs required to treat a full live room.

Mixing and mastering rooms — critical listening environments. Accurate monitoring in a mixing or mastering environment requires a controlled acoustic environment with consistent, predictable reverberation characteristics across the full frequency range. The 75mm Wedge PRO provides Class B absorption with stronger low-frequency performance than thinner tiles, reducing the influence of low-mid frequency room modes on the monitoring position and improving the accuracy of the listening environment.

Vocal booths and isolation rooms. The NRC 0.95 performance of the 75mm Wedge PRO provides effective absorption at the frequencies most critical for vocal recording — 1kHz and above — as well as improved low-mid frequency control compared to thinner profiles. The additional low-mid absorption reduces the proximity effect and room coloration that can affect vocal recordings in small enclosed spaces, producing a cleaner, more neutral vocal capture.

75mm wedge profile — deepest tile in the 12" range. The 75mm depth is the greatest foam thickness in the Advanced Acoustics 12" tile range. Greater foam depth provides a longer acoustic path length for sound to travel through the material, improving absorption at lower frequencies where shorter foam profiles are less effective. The wedge profile distributes the foam depth across the tile surface, providing effective absorption across the full tile face.

High-density polyurethane foam — 30kg/m³, fire rated. The foam core is manufactured at 30kg/m³ density, providing greater structural integrity and longer service life than lower-density acoustic foam. Higher density foam maintains its shape and acoustic performance over time without the compression and degradation that affects lower-density products. The foam meets Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989).

Large format — 2.23m² coverage per pack. Each pack of 24 tiles at 305 × 305mm provides 2.23m² (24ft²) of coverage — the largest coverage per pack in the 12" tile range. The larger tile format and higher coverage per pack reduces the number of packs and fixing points required to treat a given wall area, making the Wedge PRO efficient to install in larger rooms such as drum rooms, live rooms, and rehearsal spaces.

Installation

Plan the tile layout before beginning installation. Sketch the intended pattern on paper and mark the layout on the wall or ceiling surface using pencil, masking tape, or a laser level. Distribute tiles evenly across the treatment area rather than concentrating them in a single large cluster; even distribution provides more consistent absorption coverage across the room.

Apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile and the mounting surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat the equivalent coverage on the wall. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the tile carefully before pressing it to the wall. Avoid overspray onto the tile face or surrounding wall surface; use masking tape on the wall to protect adjacent areas. If adhesive webbing contacts the tile face, allow it to dry fully before attempting to remove it — in most cases it can be peeled away cleanly once dry.

The adhesive is solvent-based. Ensure adequate ventilation throughout the installation — keep doors and windows open.

For a temporary or demountable installation, mount tiles onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet to create panels, then hang the panels using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This approach allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall or ceiling surface.

Notes: For Control Rooms it is vital that the wall that has the control desk placed on it is entered as the Room Width even if this is the longest wall. Available Corners refers to the amount of wall to wall corners that are available for bass traps. There must be at least 350mm of free space on either wall for it to qualify.
Installing our acoustic foam tiles is very simple. The first step to take is to work out your preferred layout of acoustic tiles. Do a sketch on paper first to make sure that the layout looks right and you have enough acoustic foam and space for your planned design. It is best to have small to medium sized clusters of acoustic foam tiles evenly distributed as opposed to one huge cluster of tiles in the middle of a wall.

Once the acoustic tiles are mounted to the wall or ceiling they are hard to remove so it is important to get the layout right before you begin. Once you have a sketch of the layout you plan you can then mark up the wall with the layout. You can either use pencil, masking tape or lasers to layout the design on the wall or ceiling.

When mounting the acoustic tiles to the wall apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile and the mounting surface. There is no need to heavily cover the acoustic foam or wall with adhesive, a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile along with 50% - 75% coverage of the rest of the tile will be fine. Use the same equivalent amount on the wall. Avoid overspray on the tile and the wall so that adhesive can’t be seen when the tiles are in place. Masking Tape on the wall will help with this. If you do get webbing overspray on the tile, don’t touch it, allow it to dry, in most cases you will be able to peel the adhesive off.

The adhesive we supply is solvent based so we recommend that you keep all doors of the room and any windows open whilst completing the installation.

If you prefer to have a more temporary installation of acoustic tiles you can mount the tiles onto 6mm MDF or ply to create panels of acoustic tiles. These panels can then be hung on the wall using a D-Ring and picture hook for a damage free installation. If fitting them to a ceiling then 4 mirror plates would be required.
