Rytons Acoustic Vents

Acoustic background ventilators for masonry cavity walls and solid walls — providing controlled ventilation while attenuating external noise. The Rytons range includes the AirLiner telescopic cavity liner sets in three sizes (9×3, 9×6, 9×9), each available with a standard external grille or external cowl for exposed locations, and the Super Acoustic Controllable LookRyt AirCore for retrofit installation through a 125mm core-drilled hole.

All products are BRE tested to BS EN 13141-1:2004 and provide verified acoustic performance data for specification purposes. AirLiner sets fit standard ventilator brick openings and are suitable for new build and retrofit applications requiring Part F background ventilation without compromising the acoustic performance of the building envelope. AirLiner Telescopic Cavity Liner Sets

Rytons AirLiner sets are telescopic cavity wall ventilator systems consisting of a telescopic sleeve, a hit & miss internal grille, and an external grille or cowl. The sleeve adjusts in length to suit different wall thicknesses without cutting, and the hit & miss grille allows the occupant to open or close the vent to control airflow.

The 9×3 AirLiner (229×76mm opening) achieves 38 dB open / 39 dB closed with a 6,300mm² equivalent area — suitable for standard residential room sizes. The 9×6 AirLiner (229×152mm opening) achieves 42 dB with a 9,800mm² equivalent area — appropriate for larger rooms or where a higher ventilation rate is required. The 9×9 AirLiner (229×229mm opening) achieves 38 dB with a 12,800mm² equivalent area — the largest format in the range, for large rooms or open-plan spaces.

Each size is available in a standard variant (flat external grille, seven colour options) and a cowled variant (projecting external cowl for improved weather resistance on exposed elevations, three colour options). The cowled variants achieve marginally better acoustic performance than the standard variants due to the additional acoustic path length introduced by the cowl geometry.

LookRyt AirCore 125mm Square

The Super Acoustic Controllable LookRyt AirCore is a retrofit core ventilator installed through a 125mm diameter core-drilled hole — no ventilator brick opening required. The system includes a sound-attenuating sleeve with foam lining and a controllable draught-reducing panel. The LookRyt internal panel can be painted or wallpapered to blend with the internal wall finish.

The standard LookRyt AirCore achieves 43 dB open / 50 dB closed with an 8,500mm² equivalent area. The Cowled LookRyt AirCore achieves 45 dB open / 50 dB closed (8,400mm² equivalent area) — the highest open-position acoustic performance in the Rytons range, with an external cowl for improved weather resistance. Both variants are available in Terracotta, Buff/Sand, and White.

Selecting the Right Product

  • Existing ventilator brick opening → AirLiner set in the matching size (9×3, 9×6, or 9×9)
  • No existing opening, solid or cavity wall → LookRyt AirCore (125mm core drill required)
  • Exposed elevation or prevailing wind face → cowled variant of either range
  • Maximum acoustic performance when vent is closed → LookRyt AirCore (50 dB closed)
