The Advanced Acoustics Tegular Acoustic Studio Foam Tile Pack is a large-format acoustic foam tile range measuring 15" × 15" (381mm × 381mm), available in four thickness configurations: 2" (50mm), 3" (75mm), 4" (100mm), and the Tegular Kit which combines 8 tiles of each thickness. Each pack contains 24 tiles covering 3.48m² (37.5sqft) of wall or ceiling surface.
The tegular profile — a plain flat face with a 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides — produces a clean, grid-like pattern when tiles are installed edge to edge, with the bevel forming a defined joint line between each tile. The flat-face profile gives a more restrained, architectural appearance than wedge, pyramid, or egg-crate profiles, suited to professional environments where a minimal aesthetic is preferred alongside high acoustic performance. All four configurations achieve Class A or Class B absorption; thickness selection determines the low-frequency performance. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Thickness Options and Performance
2" (50mm) — NRC 0.95, Sound Absorption Class B.
The 50mm foam core achieves NRC 0.95 (Class B), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 1.10 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1kHz, 1.09 at 2kHz, and 1.15 at 4kHz. Low-frequency absorption is 0.51 at 250Hz. The 2" is the entry specification in the Tegular 15" range, delivering Class B broadband performance with effective mid and high frequency control. Appropriate where comprehensive treatment of the primary recording and listening frequency range is required but low-frequency absorption below 250Hz is addressed separately by bass traps.
3" (75mm) — NRC 0.95, Sound Absorption Class A.
The 75mm foam core achieves NRC 0.95 (Class A), with absorption of 0.73 at 250Hz, 0.98 at 500Hz, 1.05 at 1kHz, 1.13 at 2kHz, and 1.13 at 4kHz. The 3" matches the 2" on overall NRC but delivers significantly stronger low-frequency absorption — 0.73 at 250Hz versus 0.51 — moving the panel up to Class A as a result of the improved low-frequency performance. The 3" is the appropriate specification where low-mid frequency reverberation is part of the acoustic problem alongside mid and high frequency control.
4" (100mm) — NRC 1.05, Sound Absorption Class A.
The 100mm foam core achieves NRC 1.05 (Class A), with absorption of 0.85 at 250Hz, 1.09 at 500Hz, 1.11 at 1kHz, 1.14 at 2kHz, and 1.13 at 4kHz. The 4" is the deepest and highest-performing tile in the Tegular 15" range, delivering the strongest low-frequency absorption of the three single-thickness options — 0.85 at 250Hz, up from 0.73 for the 3" and 0.51 for the 2". NRC values above 1.00 occur in standardised reverberation chamber testing as a result of edge diffraction effects, a recognised characteristic of deep absorbers tested under ISO 354 conditions. The 4" is the appropriate specification where maximum broadband absorption including strong low-frequency control is required from a flat-face tile format.
Tegular Kit — mixed thickness, NRC 1.00, Sound Absorption Class A.
The Tegular Kit contains 8 tiles each of the 2", 3", and 4" thicknesses — 24 tiles total at the same 3.48m² coverage. The mixed-thickness configuration produces a varied wall surface with three distinct tile depths, creating a three-dimensional installation that distributes absorption across a broader effective frequency range than a single-thickness pack. Combined performance achieves NRC 1.00 (Class A), with absorption of 0.74 at 250Hz, 1.06 at 500Hz, 1.10 at 1kHz, 1.14 at 2kHz, and 1.13 at 4kHz. The Kit is the appropriate specification where a mixed-depth installation is preferred for visual variation alongside Class A broadband performance.

The large 15" format reduces the number of tiles required to cover a given wall area relative to smaller formats, making installation straightforward. Where low-frequency reverberation is also a problem, the 3" or 4" provides the additional depth required.
Rehearsal rooms — mixed-depth installations.
The Tegular Kit's mixed 2", 3", and 4" thicknesses create a varied wall surface that suits rehearsal room installations where a uniform flat wall is not the desired aesthetic. Installation
Plan the tile layout before beginning installation. Sketch the intended pattern on paper and mark the layout on the wall or ceiling surface using pencil, masking tape, or a laser level. Distribute tiles evenly across the treatment area rather than concentrating them in a single large cluster; even distribution provides more consistent absorption coverage across the room.
Apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile and the mounting surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat the equivalent coverage on the wall. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the tile carefully before pressing it to the wall. Avoid overspray onto the tile face or surrounding wall surface; use masking tape on the wall to protect adjacent areas. If adhesive webbing contacts the tile face, allow it to dry fully before attempting to remove it — in most cases it can be peeled away cleanly once dry. The adhesive is solvent-based. Ensure adequate ventilation throughout the installation — keep doors and windows open.
For a temporary or demountable installation, mount tiles onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet to create panels, then hang the panels using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This approach allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall or ceiling surface.
