MuteClip Channel is the metal channel component of the MuteClip decoupled frame system. It clicks directly into MuteClip, MuteClip XP, or MuteClip LP isolation clips to form a continuous, decoupled frame onto which acoustic plasterboard is fixed. The channel is held clear of the structural substrate by the isolation clips, preventing direct contact between the plasterboard and the wall or ceiling structure — eliminating the sound bridges that would otherwise allow vibration to transfer directly through the assembly.

The channel features a return lip designed to support the weight of plasterboard and other acoustic materials. At 63 × 22mm, it maintains a slim profile within the overall assembly. Each length is 2.4m. Minimum order quantity: 5 lengths. Compatible with MuteClip, MuteClip XP, and MuteClip LP.

Applications

• Acoustic dropped ceilings — click channel into MuteClip XP or MuteClip LP clips fixed to the underside of joists to form the decoupled ceiling frame. Fix acoustic plasterboard to the channel. The system reduces both impact noise from above and airborne noise transmission through the ceiling assembly.
• Independent wall systems — used with MuteClip clips on walls to create a decoupled frame for acoustic plasterboard on party walls, separating walls, and stud partitions. Reduces airborne sound transmission through the wall assembly.
• Metal, timber, brick, and concrete structures — the clip and channel system is compatible with all common structural substrates. Clips fix to the substrate; the channel spans between clips and supports the plasterboard layer.
• Part E compliant assemblies — the MuteClip system is compliant with Part E Building Regulations (England, Wales, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland) and Building Standards Technical Handbook 2017 (Scotland). Tested performance: 60dB airborne, 35dB impact sound reduction.

Product Benefits

Installation

Fix MuteClip, MuteClip XP, or MuteClip LP clips to the structural substrate at the centres specified in the installation guide. Click MuteClip Channel into the clips to form the decoupled frame. Fix acoustic plasterboard to the channel — do not allow the plasterboard, channel, or any other element to make direct contact with the surrounding structure, as this will create a sound bridge and reduce performance.
