Seagull Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel | 480 × 480mm | NRC 0.75 | Class C

The Advanced Acoustics Seagull Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel is a compact shaped acoustic panel from the Advanced Acoustics Designer Range. The Seagull's profile is a stylised bird-in-flight silhouette, designed to be arranged in clusters that create the visual impression of a flock in motion across the wall surface. The panel consists of a 31mm open-cell acoustic foam core mounted on a rigid backing board, wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth available in 31 colours.

The Seagull measures 480 × 480mm, providing 0.14m² of absorption per panel. The compact format makes it suited to smaller wall areas, breakout spaces, and installations where a larger panel format would be visually disproportionate to the space. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies — appropriate for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments.

Applications

  • Flock arrangements on feature walls. The Seagull is designed for clustering — multiple panels arranged in a scattered or composed grouping create the visual impression of birds in flight across the wall surface. The arrangement can be scaled from a small accent cluster to a larger feature wall installation, with acoustic coverage increasing proportionally with the number of panels.
  • Smaller offices and breakout spaces. The compact 480 × 480mm format is suited to smaller rooms and breakout areas where a larger panel format would be visually disproportionate. Multiple Seagull panels distributed across the wall surface can achieve the required absorption coverage without dominating the space.
  • Meeting rooms and quiet rooms. The Seagull's compact format and distinctive silhouette are suited to meeting rooms and quiet rooms where a considered, non-intrusive acoustic installation is preferred. A cluster of panels on one or two walls can provide meaningful absorption in smaller enclosed spaces.
  • Accent installations alongside other Designer Range panels. The Seagull can be used alongside larger Designer Range panels — such as the Hokusai or Barracuda — to create varied, multi-format compositions across a wall surface, with the smaller Seagull panels filling gaps or extending the installation into adjacent areas.
  • Educational environments. The Seagull's distinctive silhouette is well suited to educational spaces where a visually engaging acoustic installation is valued. The compact format allows panels to be distributed across classroom walls without requiring large uninterrupted wall sections.

Product Benefits

  • NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. This frequency profile makes the Seagull effective for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz); where greater low-frequency control is required, a greater number of panels or a thicker foam specification should be considered.
  • Class '0' fire-rated construction — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for wall-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
  • 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth — 31 colour options. The open-weave polyester cloth is produced from 100% recycled fibre, maintaining full acoustic transparency while providing a durable, abrasion-resistant surface finish. Available in 31 colours — download the swatch card for the full range.
  • Mirror plate fixing — discreet and secure. Supplied with mirror plate fixing hardware for a flush, secure wall mount. The discreet fixing method keeps the panel face clean and uninterrupted, maintaining the visual integrity of the shaped silhouette.
  • Compact format — suited to smaller spaces and accent installations. At 480 × 480mm, the Seagull is the most compact panel in the Designer Range, making it the most flexible format for targeted placement and accent installations in spaces where larger panels would not fit or would be visually disproportionate.
  • Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All Designer Range panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.

Please note: All Designer Range panels are made to order with a 2–3 week lead time.

Installation

Mark the fixing positions on the wall using the panel dimensions as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid wall structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings.

For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the wall at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the wall construction, and hang the panel on the mirror plate. Check that the panel hangs level before finalising the fixing position.

For flock arrangements, plan the composition on paper or digitally before installation. Use a spirit level and tape measure to mark fixing positions accurately across the wall surface before installing any panels.

How Many Panels Do You Need?

Our Office Acoustic Panels are very easy to install. They are supplied with mirror plates in order for you to mount the acoustic panels to the wall or ceiling. The only thing that isn’t supplied are the screws and plugs. The correct fixing method depends on whether you are fixing to plasterboard, brick or concrete. Check with an experienced tradesman if you aren’t sure what fixing method is best. The acoustic panels are relatively light so you will only need to use 30mm long screws to mount the panels with.

Sometimes the panels are shipped with the mirror plates facing inwards to protect them during shipping. Before attempting to mount the panels you may need to turn the plates around so that the mounting hole is exposed.

Offer up the panel in the location where you wish to fit it. Mark the wall with a pencil where the fixings need to go. Drill the holes with a suitable drill bit and insert the plugs. Offer up the panel again and fix into place with your choice of screws. Repeat until all panels are fitted.

If the panels are intended to be butted up to each other you may need to relocate the mirror plates so that they don’t foul on each other. If you are fitting the panels in rows install the bottom row of panels first and sit the next row of panels on top. In this case slide the next panel in place. Any mirror plates that will be covered by the row below can just sit between the panel and the mounting surface. Use all the remaining mirror plates that you have access to to mount the panel in place.
