High Strength Contact Adhesive | 500ml

High Strength Contact Adhesive is a solvent-based contact adhesive formulated for bonding acoustic materials to walls, floors, and ceilings. Based on a synthetic rubber/resin system with high solids and low solvent content, it produces a faster, stronger initial grab than conventional aerosol adhesives — making it well suited to overhead and vertical installations where the material needs to hold position immediately on contact.

The adhesive bonds to a wide range of substrates including acoustic foam, Mass Loaded Vinyl, MDF, timber, plasterboard, and metal. No mixing is required. Each 500ml can covers approximately 2.5–4m² when applied to both surfaces.

Applications

  • Acoustic foam — walls and ceilings — apply to both the foam backing and the mounting surface, allow a short open time, then press firmly into position. The contact bond holds immediately, which is particularly useful for ceiling installations where the material cannot be supported while the adhesive cures.
  • Mass Loaded Vinyl — use to bond MLV to timber, plasterboard, or masonry substrates as part of a wall or floor soundproofing assembly. Apply to both surfaces and allow to tack before pressing into position.
  • SilentFloor Ultra and acoustic underlays — suitable for bonding acoustic matting and underlay products to timber, concrete and screed subfloors where a contact adhesive system is specified.
  • General acoustic installation — suitable for bonding acoustic panels, baffles, and treatment materials to a wide range of interior surfaces in studios, plant rooms, and commercial spaces.

Product Benefits

  • High solids / low solvent formula. The advanced synthetic rubber/resin system delivers a stronger, more aggressive bond than conventional aerosol cans, with faster initial grab and higher final bond strength.
  • Bonds to a wide range of materials. Compatible with acoustic foam, MLV, MDF, timber, plasterboard, metal, and most common interior substrates. No primer required for most applications.
  • No mixing required. Ready to use directly from the can. No preparation beyond ensuring surfaces are clean and dry.
  • 2.5–4m² coverage per 500ml can. Coverage varies depending on substrate porosity and application method. Apply to both surfaces for a contact bond.

Installation

Ensure both surfaces are clean, dry, and free from dust and grease before application. Apply an even coat to both the mounting surface and the back of the material being bonded. Allow a short open time until the adhesive becomes tacky, then bring the two surfaces together and press firmly. Bond is immediate on contact — reposition before surfaces touch. Use in a well-ventilated area.
