Advanced Acoustics 15" x 15" 2" Tegular Acoustic Studio Foam Tile Pack
The Advanced Acoustics Tegular 2" is a 50mm open-cell polyurethane acoustic foam tile with a plain face and 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides, measuring 381mm × 381mm (15" × 15"). The tile achieves NRC 0.95 (Sound Absorption Class B), providing high-performance broadband absorption across the mid and high frequency range. Each pack contains 24 tiles, covering 3.48m² (37.5sqft) of wall or ceiling surface.
Absorption is strong from 500Hz upward: 0.51 at 250Hz, 1.10 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1kHz, 1.09 at 2kHz, and 1.15 at 4kHz. The Tegular profile — a flat face with a bevel cut on all four sides — produces a clean, grid-like pattern when tiles are installed edge to edge, with the bevel forming a defined joint line between each tile. The result is a restrained, architectural appearance suited to professional environments where a minimal aesthetic is preferred alongside Class B acoustic performance. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
Applications
Professional recording studios and control rooms — Class B broadband treatment.
The Tegular 2" at NRC 0.95 (Class B) provides comprehensive broadband absorption from 500Hz upward, with the 1.10 at 500Hz delivering strong performance in the lower-mid frequency range. The large 15" format and 3.48m² coverage per pack make it efficient for treating the wall surfaces of professional studio and control room environments. Install on primary reflection points — side walls, rear wall, and ceiling. Use the Coverage Calculator to determine the number of packs required.
Home studios and recording spaces — large-format Class B treatment.
The 15" tile format covers more wall area per tile than the 12" range, reducing the number of installation pieces required for a given treatment area. The flat-face Tegular profile produces a clean, minimal wall finish suited to home studio environments where a professional appearance is preferred. The NRC 0.95 performance addresses the full mid and high frequency range, controlling flutter echo and reverberation across the primary recording frequency range.
Vocal booths and isolation rooms.
Vocal booths require effective absorption across the vocal frequency range to prevent the tight, coloured sound produced by reflections in a small enclosed space. The Tegular 2" provides strong absorption from 500Hz through to 4kHz, covering the fundamental frequencies and harmonics most critical for vocal recording. The flat-face Tegular profile provides a more refined finish than wedge or pyramid foam in a vocal booth environment.
Product Benefits
NRC 0.95 / Sound Absorption Class B — strong broadband absorption from 500Hz upward.
The 50mm Tegular foam core achieves NRC 0.95 (Class B), with absorption of 0.51 at 250Hz, 1.10 at 500Hz, 1.12 at 1000Hz, 1.09 at 2000Hz, and 1.15 at 4000Hz. The 1.10 at 500Hz delivers strong lower-mid frequency performance, making the Tegular 2" effective across a broad frequency range. Where stronger low-frequency absorption is required, the Tegular 3" (0.73 at 250Hz) and Tegular 4" (0.85 at 250Hz) provide progressively deeper treatment.
Tegular profile — flat face with bevel cut, minimal aesthetic.
The Tegular profile — a flat face with a 45-degree bevel cut on all four sides — produces a clean, grid-like pattern when tiles are installed edge to edge. The bevel forms a defined joint line between tiles, giving the installation a finished, architectural appearance. The flat face provides a more restrained visual result than wedge, pyramid, or egg-crate profiles, suited to professional environments where a minimal aesthetic is preferred.
Specification and compliance.
30kg/m³ foam density. Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). Tile size 381mm × 381mm × 50mm (15" × 15" × 2"). 24 tiles per pack, 3.48m² (37.5sqft) coverage. Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Plan the tile layout before beginning installation. Sketch the intended pattern on paper and mark the layout on the wall or ceiling surface using pencil, masking tape, or a laser level. Distribute tiles evenly across the treatment area rather than concentrating them in a single large cluster; even distribution provides more consistent absorption coverage across the room.
Apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile and the mounting surface. Apply a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile and 50–75% coverage of the remaining surface area; repeat the equivalent coverage on the wall. Allow the adhesive to become touch-dry before bringing the surfaces together — contact adhesive bonds on contact, so position the tile carefully before pressing it to the wall. Avoid overspray onto the tile face or surrounding wall surface; use masking tape on the wall to protect adjacent areas. If adhesive webbing contacts the tile face, allow it to dry fully before attempting to remove it — in most cases it can be peeled away cleanly once dry. The adhesive is solvent-based. Ensure adequate ventilation throughout the installation — keep doors and windows open.
For a temporary or demountable installation, mount tiles onto 6mm MDF or plywood sheet to create panels, then hang the panels using D-rings and picture hooks. For ceiling-mounted panels, use four mirror plates per panel. This approach allows panels to be removed and repositioned without damage to the wall or ceiling surface.
