Barracuda Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel | 770 × 800mm | NRC 0.75 | Class C

The Advanced Acoustics Barracuda Wall Mounted Designer Acoustic Panel is a large-format shaped acoustic panel from the Advanced Acoustics Designer Range. The Barracuda's profile is inspired by the fluid, overlapping forms of fish scales or a school of fish in motion, creating a distinctive silhouette that lends itself to creative clustering arrangements across a wall surface. The panel consists of a 31mm open-cell acoustic foam core mounted on a rigid 6mm MDF backing board, wrapped in a 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth available in 31 colours.

The Barracuda measures 770 × 800mm, providing 0.61m² of absorption per panel. The large format and shaped profile make it suited to feature walls, open-plan offices, and commercial environments where acoustic treatment is required alongside a strong visual element. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), providing effective absorption of mid and high frequencies — appropriate for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments.

Applications

  • Feature walls and creative clustering arrangements. The Barracuda's shaped profile is designed for clustering — multiple panels arranged in overlapping or adjacent groupings create the visual impression of a school of fish or layered scales across the wall surface. The arrangement can be scaled from a small accent cluster to a full feature wall installation, with acoustic coverage increasing proportionally.
  • Open-plan offices — reverberation and echo control. Install on walls to reduce reverberation time and improve speech intelligibility. The Barracuda's 0.61m² coverage per panel makes it an efficient format for treating large wall areas, while the shaped profile creates visual depth and interest across the installation.
  • Meeting rooms and conference spaces. The large format is suited to meeting rooms and boardrooms where a composed arrangement of panels can provide the required absorption coverage. The shaped silhouette integrates naturally into designed interior schemes and adds visual character to otherwise plain wall surfaces.
  • Hospitality and commercial interiors. The Barracuda's distinctive profile and wide colour range make it suited to hospitality environments — restaurants, bars, and hotel lobbies — where acoustic treatment is required alongside a designed interior finish.
  • Educational environments — classrooms and assembly spaces. The Barracuda provides effective absorption of speech frequencies in educational environments. The distinctive design is well suited to educational spaces where visual engagement is valued alongside acoustic performance.

Product Benefits

  • NRC 0.75 — effective mid and high frequency absorption. The 31mm foam core achieves NRC 0.75 (Sound Absorption Class C), with strong absorption from 500Hz upward: 0.65 at 500Hz, 0.94 at 1000Hz, 1.13 at 2000Hz, and 0.99 at 4000Hz. This frequency profile makes the Barracuda effective for controlling speech-frequency reverberation in office and commercial environments. Low-frequency absorption is more limited (0.30 at 250Hz).
  • Class '0' fire-rated construction — compliant for commercial use. The acoustic foam core is Class '0' rated to BS 476 Parts 6 and 7, and C s1, d0 to EN 13501-1, meeting commercial fire safety requirements for wall-mounted acoustic treatment in offices, schools, and public buildings.
  • 100% recycled open-weave polyester cloth — 31 colour options. The open-weave polyester cloth is produced from 100% recycled fibre, maintaining full acoustic transparency while providing a durable, abrasion-resistant surface finish. Available in 31 colours — download the swatch card for the full range.
  • Mirror plate fixing — discreet and secure. Supplied with mirror plate fixing hardware for a flush, secure wall mount. The discreet fixing method keeps the panel face clean and uninterrupted, maintaining the visual integrity of the shaped profile.
  • Large format — 0.61m² coverage per panel. At 770 × 800mm, the Barracuda is one of the larger panels in the Designer Range, providing significant absorption coverage per fixing point.
  • Handmade in the UK — consistent quality across every panel. All Designer Range panels are handmade in the Advanced Acoustics UK facility using consistent materials and construction methods, ensuring uniform acoustic performance and finish quality across every panel in an installation.

Please note: All Designer Range panels are made to order with a 2–3 week lead time.

Installation

Mark the fixing positions on the wall using the panel dimensions as a guide. Ensure fixing positions are located on solid wall structure or appropriate noggins — do not fix into plasterboard alone without appropriate cavity fixings.

For mirror plate fixing: screw the mirror plate to the wall at the marked position using appropriate fixings for the wall construction, and hang the panel on the mirror plate. Check that the panel hangs level before finalising the fixing position.

For clustering arrangements, use a spirit level and spacers to ensure consistent alignment and spacing between panels. Mark all fixing positions before installing any panels to ensure the composition is correctly set out on the wall.

How Many Panels Do You Need?

Use this quick calculator to see how many panels you'll need for your room. We'll also suggest a complementary ceiling panel to complete your acoustic treatment.

Our Office Acoustic Panels are very easy to install. They are supplied with mirror plates in order for you to mount the acoustic panels to the wall or ceiling. The only thing that isn’t supplied are the screws and plugs. The correct fixing method depends on whether you are fixing to plasterboard, brick or concrete. Check with an experienced tradesman if you aren’t sure what fixing method is best. The acoustic panels are relatively light so you will only need to use 30mm long screws to mount the panels with.

Sometimes the panels are shipped with the mirror plates facing inwards to protect them during shipping. Before attempting to mount the panels you may need to turn the plates around so that the mounting hole is exposed.

Offer up the panel in the location where you wish to fit it. Mark the wall with a pencil where the fixings need to go. Drill the holes with a suitable drill bit and insert the plugs. Offer up the panel again and fix into place with your choice of screws. Repeat until all panels are fitted.

If the panels are intended to be butted up to each other you may need to relocate the mirror plates so that they don’t foul on each other. If you are fitting the panels in rows install the bottom row of panels first and sit the next row of panels on top. In this case slide the next panel in place. Any mirror plates that will be covered by the row below can just sit between the panel and the mounting surface. Use all the remaining mirror plates that you have access to to mount the panel in place.
