Mass Loaded Vinyl (MLV) & Noise Barriers
Mass Loaded Vinyl is a high-density flexible barrier used to add mass to wall, floor, and ceiling assemblies to reduce airborne sound transmission. The range includes the Premium MLV Soundproofing Mat in 5kg/2mm and 10kg/5mm weights, the SilentBarrier5 (5kg, self-adhesive) and SilentBarrier10 (10kg) for wall and ceiling applications, and the M20 Acoustic Soundproofing Mat for general barrier applications. MLV is typically used as a component within a wider assembly — combined with decoupling, absorption, and mass layers — rather than as a standalone solution.
Acoustic Underlay & Matting
Acoustic underlay and matting products reduce impact sound transmission through floating floor assemblies. The Silent Floor Ultra acoustic underlay is available in sheet and roll formats. The UpRoll Acoustic Matting (formerly R10) is suited to floating floor applications. The SilentCork3 is a cork-based underlay for LVT and laminate, and the SilentMat16 is an acoustic matting for LVT. The Terrac® Acoustic Rubber Underlay is available in multiple thicknesses for a range of floor build-up requirements.
Composite Silent Panels
The Silent Panel range combines MLV with acoustic foam in a single composite product, available in three configurations: 5kg/25mm, 5kg/50mm, and 10kg/50mm. Composite panels simplify installation by combining the barrier and absorption layers in a single sheet, reducing the number of separate materials required in the assembly.
Fibre Cement Acoustic Floorboards
The STS Construction Board TG4 fibre cement acoustic floorboards are available in 18mm and 22mm thicknesses. Fibre cement boards add significant mass to floating floor assemblies, improving low-frequency airborne sound reduction. The TG4 tongue-and-groove profile provides a rigid, stable deck suitable for use with acoustic underlay systems.
Acoustic Plasterboard
The Knauff Soundshield Plus acoustic plasterboard is available in 12.5mm and 15mm thicknesses. Acoustic plasterboard is used as the final layer in wall and ceiling assemblies to add mass and improve airborne sound insulation. For maximum performance, use in conjunction with resilient bar or MuteClip decoupling systems.
Mineral Wool
The Knauff Rocksilk RS45 and RS60 rock mineral wool products provide sound absorption within wall and ceiling cavities, reducing the resonance of the air gap and improving the overall acoustic performance of the assembly. Mineral wool is used as the absorption layer in conjunction with mass and decoupling components.
Anti-Vibration & Isolation
The Anti-Vibration Isolation Pad (600 × 600mm, 22mm thick) is used to isolate mechanical equipment — including HVAC units, pumps, and plant — from the building structure, reducing structure-borne vibration and impact noise transmission.
Acoustic Door Seals & Ventilators
Acoustic door seals from Norsound cover door bottoms, heads, jambs, meeting stiles, and thresholds for timber, metal, and glass doorsets — including automatic drop seals, wipe seals, and glass door bonded seals. Acoustic background ventilators from Rytons provide controlled ventilation through masonry cavity walls with verified acoustic attenuation, tested to BS EN 13141-1:2004.
