Advanced Acoustics Wedge Studio Starter Kit - Small
The Advanced Acoustics Wedge Studio Starter Kit - Small is a complete acoustic treatment package combining 24 Wedge 12" acoustic foam tiles with 4 matching Wedge Bass Traps. The Wedge tiles measure 305mm × 305mm × 40mm and cover 2.23m² (24sqft) of wall or ceiling surface; the Wedge Bass Traps measure 610mm × 305mm × 305mm and are designed for corner installation to control low-frequency sound waves.
The kit provides the starting point for acoustic treatment in a recording studio, control room, or rehearsal space — addressing both the high-frequency reflections handled by the wall tiles and the low-frequency build-up handled by the corner bass traps. Available in Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK.
What's Included
24 Wedge Acoustic Foam Tiles — 305mm × 305mm × 40mm, covering 2.23m² (24sqft). NRC 0.60 (Sound Absorption Class D), providing effective mid and high frequency absorption for wall and ceiling surfaces.
4 Wedge Bass Traps — 610mm × 305mm × 305mm, for corner installation. The bass traps target the low-frequency sound waves that wall tiles do not address, controlling standing waves and low-end build-up in the room corners where low-frequency energy accumulates.

Applications
Recording studios, control rooms, and rehearsal spaces. The Small Wedge Starter Kit provides a complete acoustic treatment package in a single purchase — wall and ceiling tiles for flutter echo and reverberation control, plus corner bass traps for low-frequency management. The kit is designed as a starting point that can be expanded with additional tiles or bass traps as the acoustic treatment develops. Use the Coverage Calculator to determine whether the Small or Large kit is appropriate for your room dimensions.
Product Benefits
Complete treatment package — tiles and bass traps in one kit. The kit pairs the Wedge 12" tile with the matching Wedge Bass Trap, providing a coordinated treatment package that addresses both the high-frequency and low-frequency acoustic problems in a single purchase. The matching profile across tiles and bass traps produces a consistent visual finish across the full installation.
Specification and compliance. 30kg/m³ foam density. Crib 5 and Schedule 1, Part 1 of the Furnishings and Furniture (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 (amended 1989). Tile size 305mm × 305mm × 40mm. Bass trap size 610mm × 305mm × 305mm. 24 tiles + 4 bass traps per kit. Mid Grey and Dark Grey. Manufactured in the UK and shipped uncompressed from stock.
Installation
Installing our acoustic foam tiles and bass traps included in this kit is very simple. The first step to take is to work out your preferred layout of acoustic tiles and bass traps. Do a sketch on paper first to make sure that the layout looks right and you have enough acoustic foam and space for your planned design. It is best to have small to medium sized clusters of acoustic foam tiles evenly distributed as opposed to one huge cluster of tiles in the middle of a wall.
Once the acoustic tiles and bass traps are mounted to the wall or ceiling they are hard to remove so it is important to get the layout right before you begin. Once you have a sketch of the layout you plan you can then mark up the wall with the layout. You can either use pencil, masking tape or lasers to layout the design on the wall or ceiling.
When mounting the acoustic foam to the wall or ceiling apply Advanced Acoustics Contact Adhesive to both the back of the tile or bass traps and the mounting surface. There is no need to heavily cover the acoustic foam or wall with adhesive, a band of adhesive around the perimeter of the tile or bass trap along with 50% - 75% coverage of the rest of the acoustic tile or bass trap will be fine. Use the same equivalent amount on the wall. Avoid overspray on the product and the wall so that adhesive can’t be seen when the tiles are in place. Masking Tape on the wall will help with this. If you do get webbing overspray on the tile, don’t touch it, allow it to dry, in most cases you will be able to peel the adhesive off.
We would recommend that you install your Bass Traps first. You can re-confirm that everything is going to fit and look right before continuing with installing the acoustic tiles.
The adhesive we supply is solvent based so we recommend that you keep all doors of the room and any windows open whilst completing the installation.
If you prefer to have a more temporary installation of acoustic tiles you can mount the tiles onto 6mm MDF or ply to create panels of acoustic tiles. These panels can then be hung on the wall using a D-Ring and picture hook for a damage free installation. If fitting them to a ceiling then 4 mirror plates would be required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Wedge kit compare with the Slider and Wedge PRO kits?
The Wedge is the entry-level kit. Its 40mm tiles reach NRC 0.60 (Class D) and work best at higher frequencies — 1.00 at 2kHz and 1.19 at 4kHz — which makes them effective against flutter echo and harsh, bright reflections. Absorption is lower further down: 0.25 at 250Hz and 0.47 at 500Hz. The Slider kit (65mm, NRC 0.85, Class C) reaches 0.45 at 250Hz and 0.90 at 500Hz, and the Wedge PRO kit (75mm, NRC 0.95, Class B) reaches 0.57 at 250Hz. If echo and brightness are the main problem, the Wedge kit does the job. If the room also sounds boxy or muddy in the lower mids, a deeper tile is worth the step up.
What will the Small kit actually treat?
The tiles in the Small kits cover between 2.23m² and 2.96m², depending on the kit. That is enough to treat the key reflection points in a small room — the side walls beside the listening or recording position and the wall behind it — rather than to line the whole room. The four 2ft bass traps total about 2.4m of corner length, which is roughly a quarter of the vertical corner length in a room with a 2.4m ceiling. Start with the corners nearest the speakers or sound source. More tiles and bass traps can be added whenever you want fuller coverage.
Do I need to put tiles on the ceiling?
It depends on the application but usually, yes. Treat the reflection points nearest the listening or recording position first — the side walls and the ceiling above it are the usual priorities. If you don't have enough tiles to cover everything, prioritise those first reflection points over the rest of the room and extend the treatment from there.
Will the kit make my room sound dead?
Unlikely. The kit covers a modest share of the room's surfaces and is placed at specific reflection points, so most rooms stay lively. Foam tiles absorb mid and high frequencies, and if a room starts to sound dull or lifeless, you've gone far enough — stop adding tiles. The bass traps reduce low-frequency boom without deadening the room's overall character.
What if my room still doesn't sound right after fitting the kit?
All products carry a 30-day money-back guarantee. If the improvement is less than you expected, the cause is usually placement or coverage rather than the product.
